The Wakeford Ensemble

Wakeford Ensemble This outstanding group of musicians enjoyed much success together during their formative years as members of Erard, including recitals at the British Embassy in Madrid, live performances for Classic FM, and a concert in Buckingham Palace in the presence of HM the Queen and the Royal Family.
In 1993 they were awarded a place on the prestigious Countess of Munster Recital Scheme, under whose auspices they toured the UK to great critical acclaim and firmly established themselves at the forefront of chamber music in the UK.

In 2002 they recorded their first CD, a live recording of a concert given in The William Morris Memorial Hall, Kelmscott of works by Mozart, Crussell, Debussy and Ravel.

Today, The Wakeford Ensemble continue to perform throughout the UK, either as the full ensemble of 7 players or in the various smaller combinations, delighting audiences around the country with the huge variety of programmes available.

The Ensemble is dedicated to commissioning new works. In 2003, Lynne Plowman's Silver Moon "...proved nine minutes of unalloyed delight." - The Birmingham Post, and in 2004, Howard Skemptons Eternity's Sunrise was presented to critical acclaim on tour with Music in the Round:

"It was a rare pleasure to see & hear the harp in a chamber music setting. Overall, the sensitivity of the playing was exceptional; the pianissimos were exquisite!" (Music in the Round 2004)
