[Short Biography] Sarah Williamson and her friends have formed a trio of clarinet, cello and piano, which enables them to explore a rewarding repertoire including famous works by Brahms and Beethoven. Their programmes include also works by Bruch, Glinka, John Ireland, Nino Rota and Arvo Part. The Williamson Clarinet Trio has something fresh and exciting to offer, with an eclectic appeal and much individuality. Sarah Williamson - Clarinet BBC Young Musician competition concerto finalist in 2002, Sarah Williamson played the Copland Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andrew Davis, has recorded the Copland and Finzi concertos to much acclaim. She has performed across the UK, also at the Wigmore Hall, South Bank Centre and Royal Albert Hall. Sarah plays throughout Europe, has toured the USA, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and Cyprus. Active in contemporary music, Sarah has premiered works written for her on BBC Radio 3 and at the Wigmore and Cadogan halls. James Barralet - Cello James Barralet has performed at the Wigmore and Cadogan halls and many other major venues throughout Europe and globally. Winner of the 2007 Landor Records competition James has received critical acclaim in the Strad and the Classical Music magazines, James has gained innumerable prestigious awards and prizes. His duo with tabla player, Sankar Chowdhury, has been making waves at the major UK festivals. James is a regular at the International Musicians Seminar in Prussia Cove. John Reid - Piano A regular visitor to festivals and music clubs across the UK, John Reid has given recitals at Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Purcell Room, King's Place in London, also at the Bridgewater Hall and throughout Europe and the Middle East, with many distinguished artists. He is a principal of the Aurora Orchestra, with whom he has appeared at the Aldeburgh Festival, the BBC Proms and the Proms Plus series. John has performed and recorded numerous times for Radio 3. Sarah Williamson Clarinet As concerto finalist in the 2002 BBC Young Musician competition, Sarah Williamson played the Copland Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andrew Davis. Sarah has recorded a highly acclaimed CD of the Copland and Finzi concertos which was CD of the Week on Classic FM and chosen for CD Review on BBC Radio 3. In 2010 She was the featured “Rising Star” in BBC Music Magazine and “Hot Property” in Classic FM Magazine. Other concerto performances include the Philharmonia, Orchestra of St John’s, BBC Concert Orchestra, Orchestra of St Martins-in-the-Fields and City of London Sinfonia. Winner of many awards, Sarah studied at the Paris Conservatoire, graduating with the Premier Prix and a ‘Laureate’, the highest honour. He has enthralled audiences at most of the major UK venues, including the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Purcell Room and Bridgewater Hall, throughout Europe and globally. James was winner of the 2007 Landor Records competition and his debut recording of virtuosic solo cello pieces of the twentieth century was released in 2009 to excellent critical acclaim in the Strad and the Classical Music magazines, the first in his continuing partnership with the Landor label. During his studies, first with Hannah Roberts at the Royal Northern College of Music and then with Thomas Demenga at Basel Hochschule für Musik, James received innumerable prestigious awards including the RPS Julius Isserlis Scholarship, the Muriel Taylor Cello Scholarship and the Hattori Scholarship, and graduated from Basel in 2006 with the renowned ‘Soloists Diploma’. He has enjoyed associations with the Park Lane Group and 'Making Music'. His duo with tabla player, Sankar Chowdhury, has been making waves at the major UK festivals. An active exponent of new music, he has worked with chamber groups Radius and the Ossian Ensemble, He is a principal of the Aurora Orchestra, with whom he has appeared at the Aldeburgh Festival, the BBC Proms and the Proms Plus series. A disc of trios with the Emanuel Ensemble (Champs Hill Records) is scheduled for 2011.
