Madeleine Mitchell Press Reviews

'The wonderful playing of Madeleine Mitchell, our guest virtuoso, in The Lark Ascending. Indeed her rehearsal was greeted by bravos from the orchestra (St Petersburg Philharmonic). Madeleine Mitchell, with the versatile Rudi Eastwood on the piano, also gave a recital in a lovely St Petersburg salon room of works by Rawsthorne, Alwyn, MacMillan, Bridge and the Elgar Sonata. Madeleine Mitchell displayed her total connection with this repertoire, having played it often in the past. It was a wide ranging concert with the astringency of Rawsthorne alongside the quiet religious flavour of the MacMillan. Elgar, of course, spoke for himself in this deeply felt interpretation. The audience seemed to love it all.'

'A fascinating programme, the focus being three works in which the talents of Madeleine Mitchell were pitted against the might of the choir. Mitchell herself was the instigator of the project and..it is typical of this highly imaginative artist to have conceived so fertile a collaboration. Her charismatic playing and musical personality were surely pivotal in inspiring the three composers, Roxanna Panufnik, Jonathan Harvey and Thierry Pecou.'
